Shahi Paneer recipe (Restaurant style)

Hey friends!!!

This is my very first blogpost and I am going to share with you a very tasty recipe. North Indian cuisine is full of delicious, mouth watering recipes and paneer as an ingredient is an integral part of it. Today we are going to make restaurant style Shahi Paneer which is a very tasty dish filled with its lip smacking flavours having paneer or cottage cheese as its main ingredient.

Let's begin...

SHAHI PANEER (Restaurant Style)

Ingredients (for 4 people):

  • Paneer or cottage cheese: 200 g
  • Mustard Oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Butter: 2 tablespoon
  • Tomato (coarsely chopped): 4-5 mediun sized
  • Onion (finely chopped): 2 medium sized
  • Kaju/ Cashew nuts: 12-15
  • Jeera/ Cumin seeds: One fourth teaspoon
  • Ginger- garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
  • Laung/ Cloves: 4
  • Elaichi/ cardamom: 3-4
  • Sabut Kali Mirch/ Black pepper: 4-5
  • Kashmiri Lal Mirch: 1 Teaspoon
  • Kasuri Methi: Half teaspoon
  • Haldi/ Turmeric powder: As per taste
  • Salt: As per taste
Let us begin with the recipe...

Firstly heat some oil in a pan and when it is heated up add half the onions to it. After the onions become light golder add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2-3 minutes till the raw flavour of ginger and garlic vanishes. Then add cashews and tomatoes to it and let it cook till the tomatoes become soft.

Remove this mixture from flame, let it cool for sometime and then make a smooth paste of it in a mixer without adding water. This tomato puree can be strained in a strainer or it can be used as it is in the recipe.

Now, heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds/ jeera, cloves/ laung, cardamom/ elaichi and black pepper/ kaali mirch to it. After half a minute add the remaining finely chopped onions. When the onions become golden add Kashmiri red chilli powder and turmeric powder.

After cooking for sometime add the tomato puree and kasuri methi powder (how to use kasuri methi as it is used in restaurants is given below) and cook it for 5 minutes and then add our main ingredient i.e. Paneer (cut into cubes or triangular pieces as per your choice). Add salt and butter as per taste and cook for few more minutes.

The restaurant style Shahi Paneer is ready and it can be served with rotis, paranthas, rice and pulaos. Try this recipe and give your feedback in the comments below.
  • Butter and kasuri methi give a very nice flavour to the recipe so you must not forget to add these two ingredients.
  • How to use kasuri methi in this recipe?
On a medium to low flame heat the leaves of kasuri methi for one to two minutes. Remove them from the flame and crush them with your palms. They will get powdered. Then this powder can be added in the recipe as they do in the restaurants.

Happy cooking to all food lovers!!!!
